The Book of Causes, restored from Arabic and Greek manuscripts, is the first complete English edition of Apollonios of Tyana’s lost theurgic masterwork. The first ever English translation of the ‘Sirr Al-Khaliqa’.
Written in the 1st century CE and preserved by the Palestinian scribe Ibn Salim, this text reveals the four elemental natures (hot, cold, wet, dry), the subterranean initiation with the Emerald Tablet, and the alchemical anatomy of metals, stones, plants, and the human soul. Apollonios — philosopher, healer, master of talismans — teaches a practical theurgy grounded in natural law.

This edition includes a clarified Emerald Tablet, Ibn Salim’s protective essay, and extensive footnotes for practitioners. No future translation will supersede this version for its intended purpose: the restoration of Apollonios’s voice.
